Can I choose what finish I'd like to have on my stone?
Generally yes, but you also have to take into account the type of stone you have - some kinds will come with a determined finish, but in most cases you can choose the finish that reflects your style. Whether you’re looking for a organic environment with a relaxed vibe or a glamourous light-reflective space we can deliver it for you.
How often should I restore & seal my stone?
There is not really a straightforward answer to this question as it ultimately comes down to wear and tear. It also depends on other factors including the type of natural stone and where it’s located (kitchen or bathroom, floor or benchtop etc). Wet areas or areas with a higher traffic normally require more frequent maintenance. One thing is for certain - never leave it for later! A frequent maintenance is key to keep your natural stone looking good all year round!
What kind of protection will a penetrating sealer give my stone?
Whilst sealants often slow down the rate of absorption of spilt liquids, they don't always completely stop it. That means the sealer will give you time to wipe any spills before it can react with the stone. Some liquids will absorb and react with the surface of the stone faster than others. If a spill occurs we recommend it to be wiped straight away.
What is marble etching and how to prevent it?
Marble etching refers to the physical harm inflicted upon the stone, typically arising when marble interacts with substances that contain acids. Etching denotes a corrosive reaction within the stone, leading to the removal of its outer layer and exposing the raw marble underneath. Consequently, the affected area appears paler and lacks the previous lustre
Fortunately, there are numerous approaches to minimize the chances of marble etching. Applying a reliable marble sealer is advised, as it reduces the stone's porosity, making it less susceptible to etching from swiftly wiped spills. When feasible, employ coasters and cutting boards to shield the marble from direct contact with food and beverages. It's crucial to exercise caution when selecting cleaning agents for your natural stone, as several multipurpose sprays have acidic properties. Opting for a pH-neutral detergent is our recommended choice.
